Are there wire bridges?

In 1883, the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, United States, was the first Suspension Bridge built using steel cables, which can carry huge loads. The bridge cost $15.1 million to build and approximately 27 people died during its construction. Its designer, John Roebling, used over 1,900 kilometres of wire anchored with around 90,000 tones of masonry.

At the time it opened, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world 50% longer than any previously built and it has become a treasured landmark.
